The Human Voice

...Human voices vary even more. Each one possesses more notes than the richest instrument of music. And the combinations in which the voice groups these notes are as inexhaustible as the infinite variety of personalities.
From Marcel Proust's Within a Budding Grove. What a fascinating concept. Our voice is richer than any instrument. The Bible speaks of every knee bowing before the Lord. Someone once mentioned that there were three kinds of knees to bow. The repentant or contrite knee that loves the Lord and the knee of one for whom it is too late (sorry, but I forgot the third kind of knee). So, yes, there will be different kinds of knees to bow. But it just struck me now, from reading Proust, that there will also be different kinds of voices to acknowledge Christ as Lord. There will be voices of remorse and their will be voices of rejoicing. I hope mine is the one that will be able to rejoice.
