Surrendered to Dishonour

We have done ourselves a great dishonour. We have all been gifted with something not only useful and vitally necessary but also truly beautiful. It is interesting to consider how much beauty God dedicates to usefulness. God is truly an aesthetic God. He is an Artist, or rather the Master Artist. He blesses us with more than just nourishment. He also gives us taste. He blesses us not with touch alone, but with sensation. He is an awesome God. Yet we have still taken all that He has given us and perverted it. We have dishonoured ourselves by degrading ourselves. We have become like animals.
Romans 1:24-25 tells us that "God gave them [humanity] over in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, so that their bodies would be dishonored among them. For they exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever."
The service to the body receives more homage than any other sin. This is true for both Christian and non-Christian alike. The body is worshiped in every television commercial in sickening proportions. There are commercials which are exclusively masculine and do not require a female presence. I mean, really, why do women need to be present in commercials that have to do with men's deoderant or shaving or anything purely "macho"?
