Spiritually Speaking

I Corinthians 12:13, For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free, and we were all made to drink of one Spirit.
Whether or not you believe in spiritual gifts as being supernaturally inherited at the point of salvation this verse introduces a very interesting point. The true power of the Spirit was not evidenced by speaking unknown tongues but rather by controlling the tongue that we have. We have all been baptized into one body, that is into one temple, for our body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. We are just ordinary people filled with extraordinary power, the power of God. Yet we often tear down the temple walls with our tongue. Sometimes we wag our tongues so much over silly things such as whether gifts are supernaturally inherited or inherently natural. We talk about, even argue about, whether or not the gift of tongues exists today and is in use. All of this for what? Nothing. It really doesn't do much good to anyone. The person who is truly filled with the Spirit must be under the control of the Spirit.
